MEDITERRANEAN HOUSE

SANT PERE DE RIBES - BARCELONA, 2020

In Sant Pere de Ribes, a picturesque town in Penedés surrounded by vineyards and forests, adjacent to Sitges, stands this residential home that captivates with its location overlooking the Garraf Natural Park and its relaxed atmosphere.

The client entrusted us with her home, which had been rented for many years, and requested an interior design project and renovation with changes that would significantly improve the habitability and comfort for the future tenant.

The chosen style, inspired by the Mediterranean islands, was minimalist and Ibiza-inspired. The colour palette consisted of neutral tones, with touches of sky blue and black in lighting fixtures to add a contemporary touch. This was key to creating a home that breathes a summery vibe all year round (even during Christmas).

Ibiza style kitchen with blue cabinets and porcelanic marble worktop. Designed and renovated by the interior designer Jimena Sarli from the Interior Design Studio Lady J. Interiors

The walls originally had textured plaster, which were treated until perfectly smooth—a significant change. We installed modular vinyl floors in light grey tones looking for a continuous concrete floor effect, providing a sense of spaciousness, brightness, and visual order. This type of floors doesn't require building work and is extremely resistant (to moisture, wear, stains) while reducing sound by up to 18 dB. The high skirtings, from Orac Decor, painted in the same colour as the walls, provided elegance and a sense of greater height. We preserved the original carpentry but transformed it with paint. All windows and Catalan doors were painted in a pastel blue tone—reflecting more light, providing serenity, calmness, harmony, cleanliness, freshness, and a touch of joy. In the kitchen, we recycled the cabinets and made significant style and functional improvements—we lowered the height of the original breakfast bar and thereby achieved continuity by expanding storage capacity and creating a spacious breakfast bar integrated into the kitchen-living room that connects both spaces. The worktop (porcelain) with a natural Carrara marble effect, resistant to high temperatures, stains, etc.—became tenant-proof. The shelves, custom-made and lacquered in white with pine brackets designed to give a special touch to this project, were painted in the same tone as the carpentry. A minimalist Ibiza-style home that breathes summer all year round.
