A Fusion of Cultures: Modern-Classic Living in Garraf

In a picturesque and charming town nestled in the Garraf region of Barcelona, a beautiful house became the canvas for a remarkable transformation. Our clients, a delightful Mexican and Dutch couple, envisioned a home where they could truly plant roots and nurture their growing family.

Built in 2008, the house was spacious and bright, yet its interiors felt cold, impersonal, and lacked a sense of belonging for its owners. Functional deficiencies were evident in the kitchen, laundry room, and all three bathrooms. Additionally, the couple was keen on enhancing their well-being with the addition of a Finnish dry sauna. Through a close collaboration, we embarked on a comprehensive interior design project, completely reimagining this residence into a modern-classic home infused with a Mexican and Dutch heart.

This bespoke interior design project for the 320 sqm home encompassed architectural enhancements, interior design, decoration, and an integral renovation, all executed seamlessly with our trusted building team. Our meticulous renovation brought to life a warm and sophisticated home, subtly referencing Mexico through art and Holland through thoughtfully curated Dutch furniture. The result is a welcoming sanctuary that effortlessly transitions from lively social gatherings to quiet family moments. The front porch was reimagined as the perfect gathering and entertaining space. Checkerboard floors in a soft, warm palette create visual interest and a hint of classic charm. To enhance the welcoming experience, we designed an outdoor bar area, complete with a fridge and sink, encouraging interaction and even mojito-making among guests. Inside, the carefully crafted interior styling significantly elevated the home's original aesthetic and functionality. The new kitchen, featuring a peninsula layout, became a warm and timeless heart of the home, fulfilling the clients' "must-have" — a breakfast nook with captivating views of the garden and swimming pool. The living room became the client's favorite spot, boasting a glamorous accent wall with elegant molding and a large, inviting linen sofa adorned with plush cushions. An organic-shaped dining table, imported directly from Holland, became the undisputed star of their social events. We cultivated a special atmosphere with handmade terracotta lamps, while an eye-catching statement art piece elevated the entire space. The master suite bedroom was completely elevated through sophisticated molding and lighting, featuring a striking plaster statement on the ceiling. The undeniable star of the glamorous master bathroom is the double vanity crafted from exquisite Blush Pink marble (Portuguese pink) with undermounted ceramic sinks, complemented by a herringbone accent wall, which together redefine the daily routine into a luxurious experience. We designed an elegant, colorful, and feminine wall-to-wall library — both chic and bold. The combination of low cabinets and arched shelves provides the perfect place to beautifully store their travel and business books and display cherished personal items. All three bathrooms were thoughtfully infused with the clients' unique personalities. The outdoor bathroom transformed into a tranquil sanctuary, featuring a custom-made Finnish sauna crafted from Northern spruce, perfectly integrated into the available space. Even the little one’s bedroom was filled with magic, thanks to playful wallpaper and a LEGO nightstand designed in a warm color palette. In summary, this house stands as a beautiful testament to the fusion of its owners' Mexican and Dutch heritage with a timeless classic-modern style. It has been meticulously designed to be a warm and welcoming family home in the picturesque Garraf area.
